Barcelona World Race
The Barcelona Wold Race is a new double-handed, non-stop circumnavigation of the planet from West to East, starting and finishing in Barcelona, Spain. It is to be held every 4 years with the next race due to start in November 2011.

Route du Rhum
The Route du Rhum was created in 1978, after a maximum length restriction was placed on entries for the Ostar (now the Artemis Transat). The race eventually developed into the solo, non-stop, transatlantic race that it is today. The race starts in Saint-Malo, France and finishes in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadaloupe, and is held every 4 years with the next race in November 2010.

Velux 5 Oceans
Originally known as the BOC Challenge; this single-handed, circumnavigation of the globe started in 1982, and comprised of 4 legs. It was to be held every 4 years, and was renamed in 1994 to the Around Alone and again in 2006 to the Velux 5 Oceans.

Vendée Globe
The Vendee Globe; a solo, unaided, non-stop circumnavigation, was created in 1989 by Philippe Jeantot, a successful solo sailor, as ‘the ultimate race that would challenge both man and machine to the limits and beyond’. Since then the race has become known as the 'Everest of the sea': an ultimate solo endurance adventure. Currently held every 4 years, with the next race due to start on the 9th November 2008 in Les Sables d'Olonne, France and finish 24,000 miles later after a circumnavigation of the planet from West to East.
